Michele Marotta Is Turning Studio City Into a Microphone for the San Fernando Valley

Updated: Aug 7

Michele Marotta, the Woman Behind the Microphone

There are people who walk into a room looking for someone important.

And then there are people like Michele Marotta, who seem to understand that almost everyone becomes interesting once you ask the right question.

Michele is the creator and host of Studio City Now, a podcast devoted to conversations with the people who make up Southern California's creative world. Actors. Filmmakers. Musicians. Writers. Artists. And sometimes people whose stories don't fit neatly into any one category.

That may be exactly why the podcast works.

Michele isn't simply collecting résumés behind a microphone. She is interested in the journey behind them: how people got where they are, what happened along the way, what they created, and what keeps them creating.

She brings some interesting credentials to that curiosity herself. Michele is an actress and photographer, so she understands both sides of storytelling: being the person in front of the lens and being the person behind it.

Since launching Studio City Now in 2020, she has recorded more than 160 episodes, creating a growing audio portrait of the creative people who live, work, and pass through Southern California.

And perhaps that's what makes Studio City Now particularly appropriate for SFVP Voices & Faces.

The San Fernando Valley is full of people whose names may never appear on a Hollywood marquee but whose work, ideas, talent and persistence are part of what makes this place what it is. Sometimes all that's needed is someone curious enough to sit across from them and say: Tell me your story.

Michele Marotta has been doing exactly that, one conversation at a time.
